When you realise you just don't get enough!

Take your minds out of the gutter........I am talking about sleep, well lack of it in my case.
The last few weeks have been manic at work (good manic but manic) I have had something on every weekend for the last god knows how many...... late nights and early mornings have started to take its toll!
On Friday I finished at lunch time and when I got home I thought I would have a 20 minute power nap....which turned into two hours!! The same happened on Saturday and when I was at my Mum and Dads on Sunday I could barley move from the sofa, I was absolutely exhausted! For the first time in a long time I missed training on Monday and had a couple of early nights and now I feel loads better!

I had noticed that I was getting a sore throat, my memory became even worse than normal and I sometimes couldn't think of words I wanted to say, I'm not even 40 yet!!
Now my job is normally to encourage people to get off the sofa and do some exercise, however, you sometimes have to listen to your body.....if you are having afternoon naps which turn into a couple of hours on a regular basis then it is your bodies way of saying you need a rest! Same goes if you are constantly getting run down or ill, I find it very hard to realise that I am not Wonder Woman and that I need to slow down, but that down times is as important as training time.
One of the benefits of exercise & eating healthy is that it builds your immune system, so when you do start to get a bit run down you can fight off being unwell a lot better than if you didn't exercise.
My goal for after my holidays is to make sure I get at least 7 and half hours sleep a night!!

I was talking to my business/life coach in my last session and were talking about 'relationships' ......which it has come to light in our sessions that I am scared to death about. I am scared to put myself out there in case I get hurt.....(again)!
I like to use the analogy that relationships are like trains.....you being the train heading to your destination/goal and sometimes you stop off to let passengers on and off. Those that want to be part of your train journey hop aboard and stay on for the final destination, others never get off the platform and others are constantly hopping on and off the train. I hold my hands up and admit that in the past I have made mistakes by staying at a platform for a bloody long time hoping that a certain person will hop aboard, or stay aboard. Everyone should have a journey and stick to it, why waste time waiting for passengers that don't actually deserve to hop aboard? There will be someone at the next stop eager to go first class........definitely more benefits having first class travel as opposed to economy! My issue at the moment is that I am currently on high speed and keep forgetting to stop at a platform to give people chance to step aboard.

Anyway back to Fatman scoop wise words, health and fitness can also be like trains, you have a goal/destination where you want to get to and you have start the train in order to get there. Along the way there might be passengers who want you stop at a certain station, some that want to derail you and some that want to travel with you to reach the end destination. There will be times where you miss the odd training session and times where you have a bit of a blow out and overeat......this is normal! However if this is happening on a regular occurrence you will not see the results.

What you believe you receive!

Hi All,
Hope you are having a good week so far?
I mentioned in one of my previous blogs that I would write about the law of attraction, something I have started using over the last year or so. Now I could write loads and loads about this and go on for this, however today I want to keep it as succinct as possible.
The principle behind the law of attraction is that whatever you believe, focus on, put energy into is what you attract into your life. Now this works on both positive and negative things. I have only been practicing it (consciously) in the last 12 months or so, however, without realising I have used it before. I think the best example was before I met my ex boyfriend.....I kept telling everyone that I didn't want anyone younger, anyone in the Army or shorter than me in high heels. And guess what that is actually what I attracted!! Yes I said what I didn't want, however, the universe doesn't 'hear' the word don't.....so you have to say what you want in life rather than what you don't want!
Over the last 12 months I have started saying what I do want in life and gradually things are starting to fall into place! The best way to practice this is if you want a parking space....I imagine that there is a free space anytime I go anywhere and do you know what ever since I have done this I have managed to park without any issues. It might sound a bit nuts and some people are sceptical about it however if you don't try it you don't know!

How many times do you hear people saying they can't lose weight, or talk about all the negative points of their body? And then struggle to get the results what they want? If you focus on the negative then it becomes more negative and you feel like you are struggling without any change.
If you tell yourself that you are fit and healthy and have a body you love (and actually believe it) then honestly great things will start to happen.

Six Bloody Years!!

Hello Super Troopers,
These weeks are flying by, I can't believe we are in July (I am on the countdown to my holiday now!)
So this weekend was fab.....I celebrated 6 years in business with a group of my clients!!
There was over twenty of us who went out to celebrate, there was good food, a few cheeky cocktails (perhaps a few too many), some break dancing and some busking at the end of the night. It was so good to see everyone out of their trainers and what a laugh we had! Thank you to everyone who came to help me celebrate.

I cant believe how fast these 6 years have gone! From something that started as an idea in a pub to having trained 100's of clients I just cant put into words how lucky I feel. Believe me there has been times when I have wanted to quit and jack it all in, times I have struggled, however those brief moments of doubt pass when I turn up to a session and realise that I am making an impact on someone's health and fitness.
The best thing in the last 6 years is that I cant remember once dreading going to work! For me it doesn't feel like work, I love doing what I do (putting you guys through hell haha) and I am lucky that I am able to do something I am personally passionate about and make a career out of it.
So I just want to say a massive thank you to you guys, if it wasn't for you working hard in each session and turning up to training I wouldn't be doing what I love so big high five to you all!
I should also mention two very important people in my life who have been there through it all, they have supported me from the start and they even pay me to come get tortured too (no family freebies here lol)........of course it is my Mum and Dad (aka Miss Daisy & 'Our Nige'). I couldn't wish for better parents....I think they sometimes could wish for a less stressful daughter lol but it those guys who have made me into who I am today for constantly being amazing support.

24 hours, 25 miles and a broken body!

Hi Troops,
Hope you are all well and have had a good weekend.....this weekend I felt like a total Warrior (not a very good warrior but a warrior none the less). I took part in a 24 hour endurance event, it was in teams and you had to run a 5 mile route as a relay starting at 12pm Saturday and finishing 12pm Sunday!
God I ached Monday!! I completed 5 legs in total so did a distance of 25 miles (not far off a Marathon). It was very weird (or should I say spooky) running round Bramham park at 1am in the morning! I have done 24 hour challenges before which involved running through the night and this one in comparison was easy as we were camping and I got more sleep......however on the flip side when you have got in a deep sleep and you are woken up at 5am for your next leg it is not the best feeling in the world!

The hardest thing for me was getting going again after been asleep, I felt like I had hips of a 80 year old and could barely lift my feet by the end of it. The last leg was at about 11.30am and there were four of us from our group running it,for me it was the hardest by far, my hips and knees ached like hell (god I sound like my Dad) and I had a bruised toe nail and smelt like a dustbin (not at all attractive)! If I had been on my own I would probably have walked and cried! I kept saying I wanted to cry and the motto of the weekend was 'we can't waste any moisture'!
Now it is times like this when you realise how resilient the human body is and what it can actually cope with.......Endurance events are more mind over body. As soon as you give in mentally you have no chance of carrying on. I got through the last leg as I had people there to encourage me and I didn't want to let them down. 
It is the same with bootcamp.......so many people come to my sessions thinking that they can't do it or find it hard during the session, however, anything that is worth having or doing doesn't come easy! We have a great team spirit which keeps people going.
