There was an article in yesterdays daily mail about researchers who had studied undergraduates weight loss. Half of participants were asked to write for 15 minutes a day about the things they valued in their lives. The other half were asked to write about things that didn't matter to them. Results showed that those who wrote about something positive lost an average of 3.4lb while the other group gained 2.7lb within 4 months.

So is weight loss really that simple? Just pick up a pen and write about good things?
Yes there is evidence which shows that stress can cause weight gain so perhaps those who write about positive things are less stressed?
I believe a healthy diet and exercise are more key to weight loss and weight maintenance.
Energy balance is key.
Energy in - energy out -  if these are balanced = weight maintenance.
Energy in - energy out - more energy expenditure = weight loss.
Let me know what you think!
